Telehealth

Florida Mental Health & EAP Services offers counseling to adults, adolescents and children ages 3 and over. Clients are offered a highly personalized approach to match your individual clinical needs. Sessions are provided in a warm, comfortable, confidential and ethical manner where the client and your treatment goals are kept as a top priority.

If you feel worrisome or anxious, we can help. We understand how difficult it can be to concentrate, focus and sleep when you have so many negative, apprehensive thoughts. We have worked with children and adults who have struggled with these feelings their whole lives and those that began experiencing them after a certain event in their life. It is exhausting, and clients often feel so tired that they find it hard to do what they need to do day to day. We often hear from clients that they have such severe moments of anxiety that they feel their heart is pounding, chest tightening, dizziness, lightheadedness and evening feeling like they want to run or that they are going to faint or die. We have worked with clients who have had anxiety issues about everything or in some cases, in specific situations, like social environments.

Psychotherapy

If you or your loved one is dealing with depression and wants to experience feeling happier, sleeping better, being able to look forward to their future, to no longer think of death as an escape from their pain, to make better grades, be more productive at work, to think more clearly, concentrate better, have more energy and motivation, be able to consistently eat healthy and enjoy the things they used to do and the people in their life, we can help.

If your family is going through a separation, mediation or divorce, we understand that you all want to recover from the challenges impacting your family to be able to and move on and be happy once again. We can work with the whole family towards the goal of being able process all of the difficult emotions of loss, the stress of the new custody schedule and the challenges you may face in communicating well as co-parents.

We have extensive experience with adult and minor clients who have experienced the trauma of domestic abuse, child abuse, adult sexual assault, violence or war who want to sleep through the night without nightmares, to feel closer in their relationships, to be able to trust again, to feel less angry, to not be flooded with scary thoughts and memories, to be able to move on from the event or events that still haunt them.

Self Harming Behaviors

We can help you or your child who may be struggling to cope with the symptoms of ADHD and might often feel like they are not smart enough or good enough. We understand that you want to feel accomplished at work or school, that you want your spouse to understand you better, that your child wants to make their parents and teachers proud and wants to not feel like they are always in trouble or doing something wrong.

If you or your child have a history of self-harming behaviors, we understand that you may struggle to let go of his habit. You or your child may not know how to stop. We can help you find a better way to cope with the stress and pain you feel so that your scars can truly heal. If you are a parent of a child who self-harms, we can help you understand why your child is acting out in this way and also support your efforts to walk with your child on the road to recovery.

If you are a parent who struggles with your child’s behavior and you want to have a better relationship with your son or daughter we can help your child thrive emotionally, socially and academically. If you would like some coaching in how to utilize more effective parenting skills, we can help you with that. We can also work with you both to help improve your relationship to experience better communication and more quality time together as a family.

Our Treatment Approach

Our approach to treating and caring for patients is to ensure that you and your family receive the highest level of care from beginning to end. What sets us apart is our standard of care. We are passionate about what we do. While our experience and training are key to the success of treatment, it is also important to learn from each and every client we meet. Particularly, we have learned that what our clients really need is what was lacking in past therapy experiences. In fact, the very first visit is probably the most important because it can be stressful, nerve-racking, and confusing when reaching out for help. This is why we will respond to your phone call or call you back the same day that you call. We understand that not hearing back from a therapist when you call can be discouraging so we will respect your courage to call by responding back in a timely fashion. We will provide answers to your questions and concerns before your first visit with us. We even offer flexible scheduling so that you can avoid missed time from work or school. And if you need us in between visits, we are here. As a client, you can contact a therapist between sessions for urgent matters.

So if you’re ready to take the next step toward change and recovery, give us a call. We want to help!

First 1-3 Appointments

Oftentimes, clients are apprehensive about their first office visit. To ensure that clients feel at ease, the following is a list of what clients can expect during the first, second, and third appointments:

  1. It is important that you understand your rights up front. Therefore, before your first appointment, you will be given several treatment forms to review and sign. This includes demographic information, consent forms, confidentiality form, attendance obligations, associated fees and services, symptom checklist, etc.
  2. The therapist will discuss confidentiality and its limitations, i.e. sharing of information in extreme or emergency circumstances.
  3. A psychosocial assessment (i.e. reason for visit, current/past symptoms, diagnosis) will be conducted over the course of the first three sessions.
  4. During the first or second appointment, the therapist will use the checklist to review/discuss your symptoms and may ask you to complete additional clinical questionnaires based on such symptoms.
  5. The therapist will discuss your goals for therapy and complete a treatment plan after the psychosocial assessment is completed
